Para aprender inglés con ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude o Copilot, usa un prompt que fije su papel (compañero, entrevistador, profesor), tu nivel y cómo quieres que te corrija; por ejemplo: Have a conversation with me and correct my most important mistake after each message.
I'm a Spanish speaker from Spain and I want to practise my English. Have a natural conversation with me about [topic]. Ask me one question at a time and keep your replies short (2-4 sentences). After each of my messages, correct my most important mistake and suggest a more natural way to say it. Adjust your English to my level.
Act as a hiring manager interviewing me for a [job title] position at [type of company]. Ask me one typical interview question at a time, starting with 'Tell me about yourself', and wait for my answer. After each answer, give me short feedback in Spanish on grammar, vocabulary and how convincing I sound, and then show me an improved version in English. At the end, tell me the three things I should improve before a real interview.
Let's do a role-play. You are [a waiter in a London restaurant / a check-in agent at an airport / a doctor] and I am [the customer / the passenger / the patient]. Stay in character and speak like a real person would, using common everyday expressions. Don't interrupt the scene to correct me. When I write 'END', give me a list of my mistakes and of the phrases that sounded unnatural, with a better alternative for each one.
I'm going to write sentences in English. For each one: 1) write the corrected version, 2) explain every mistake in Spanish, briefly and simply, 3) tell me if it's a typical mistake for Spanish speakers and why (for example, a literal translation from Spanish). If a sentence is already correct, say so and suggest a more natural alternative if there is one.
Here is an email I wrote in English: [paste your email]. It's for [a client / my manager / a colleague] and the tone should be [formal / friendly but professional]. Correct it and make it sound natural to a native speaker without changing my meaning. Then show the main changes in a table with three columns: my version, improved version and why (explained in Spanish).
Give me the 15 most useful words and expressions to talk about [topic, e.g. my job in marketing / renting a flat / football]. For each one, include the IPA pronunciation (British and American if they differ), the Spanish translation and a natural example sentence. Warn me about any false friends for Spanish speakers. Then quiz me on them, one at a time.
Write a natural dialogue of about 150 words between two friends [planning a weekend trip], at [B1 / B2] level. Use contractions and everyday expressions such as 'gonna' or 'kind of' where they sound natural. Then rewrite it marking the stressed words in CAPITALS and joining with hyphens the words that are usually linked in fast speech (for example, 'pick-it-up').
Quiz me on common phrasal verbs used in everyday conversation (with get, take, put, come, go and look). Give me one sentence in Spanish at a time and I'll translate it into English using a phrasal verb. Tell me if my answer is correct and natural, and give me a better option if there is one. Keep score and make it harder every five questions.
Create a pronunciation drill with minimal pairs for sounds that Spanish speakers often confuse: /ɪ/ vs /iː/ (ship, sheep), /æ/ vs /ʌ/ (cap, cup), /b/ vs /v/ (berry, very) and /d/ vs /ð/ (day, they). For each pair, give the IPA and a short sentence with each word. Then test me: write sentences with a gap and two options, and I'll choose the word that fits.
Give me a quick English level test with 15 questions that get progressively harder (grammar, vocabulary and reading comprehension). Ask one question at a time and don't tell me the answers until the end. Then estimate my level on the CEFR scale (A1-C2), explain in Spanish what I did well and what I should study next, and suggest a four-week study plan.
Act as an English teacher who speaks Spanish and knows the typical mistakes of learners from Spain. Explain [the present perfect / make vs do / some vs any] in Spanish, comparing it with Spanish grammar when that helps. Use simple language, give five examples with their translation, point out where the Spanish logic does NOT work in English, and finish with five sentences for me to complete.
Be my 10-minute daily English coach. Every time I write 'START', give me: 1) one useful everyday expression with an example, 2) three questions for me to answer in full sentences, and 3) corrections of my answers plus a mini challenge for the next day. Keep track of the expressions you teach me in this chat and include one of them for review every day.
Si te bloqueas, pregunta How do you say [palabra] in English? y sigue.
- Al terminar, vuelve al texto y pide: Summarise my three most important mistakes from this conversation and give me five sentences to practise them.
